I was recently given a copy of SHOW THEM JESUS by a friend who has been encouraging me as a Kids Leader at HBC.
This book was super helpful to think about how I am teaching kids with Jesus at the centre. It had loads of practical tips on teaching kids the gospel and moving away from moralism.
Each chapter had me think of ways I can better teach kids about Jesus by connecting their heart to who Jesus is rather than just telling a story or how to be a good person. The book gave insight into the ways children might perceive different Bible stories and ensuring to keep the focus on Jesus. As is often the case when teaching kids, God has found yet another way to grow me - reading SHOW THEM JESUS has been really helpful for my personal faith has it highlighted again what Jesus has done for us, how much he loves us and wants us to be transformed by this message.
This has now changed the way I teach and prep for kids ministry by trying to get kids thinking about Jesus for themselves through clear bible lessons with Jesus as the focus.
I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about joining kids ministry or is in a kids ministry, as well as anyone else as it also gave helpful ideas on how to centre conversations to Jesus which is great for evangelism.
