Who We Are
Our big prayer is that God would give thousands of people in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie to Jesus—and we would love to be a part of that.
Hunter Bible Church is a church in Newcastle. The only remarkable thing about us is the God we serve. Our story is of a group of profoundly ordinary people who have been shown incredible love by God through Jesus. And we think this is news worth sharing!
Our Mission
We think God is worthy to hear big prayers.
So our plans are always in His hands, not our own. And that gives us all the more desire to go after his glory more and more.
What does this mean for us at Hunter Bible Church? Our big prayer is that God would give Jesus more than 30,000 people in Newcastle—for a start.
That’s not a small prayer, but it’s not really that big. There are over 300,000 people in the greater Newcastle area. From what we know, only about 2%–3% of those people know Jesus. That’s about 6,000–9,000 people out of 300,000!
So we’re praying that God would start by giving Jesus 30,000 people in Newcastle. And we’re praying that God would use us to be part of it. He may not choose to use us—that’s fine! But either way, we'd love him to do it and we’d love the chance to be part of it.

What We Believe
The simple answer is that we’re all about Jesus here at Hunter Bible Church. The Jesus revealed to us in the pages of God’s written Word; the Bible.
Our Story
Over the years, HBC has met in 17 different locations, in seven different suburbs in various forms and under various names. The one thing that has never changed is our commitment to teaching and preaching the word of God, for it is the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ that brings forgiveness to the world.
