What is this unit about?

We’ve reached the end of our time going through the old testament and so we start our 18 month journey seeing how a lot of the OT promises are fulfilled in Jesus.

Heaven met earth when Jesus came to dwell among His people. A humble birth brought us our Savior and Redeemer, fulfilled ancient prophecies, and further displayed God’s love to the world. Jesus, the long-promised Messiah, had finally arrived, but in a rather unexpected way. From the start, though, every detail of Jesus’ life was to reveal and advance His mission of being the sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Why is this important for our kids?

This is an important link for kids to see just how Jesus not only fulfilled OT promises, but also came to satisfy what the OT law could not - the sufficient payment for sin and redemption of our relationship with our heavenly father. Without this link kids can be left with an empty view of the Old Testament rather than filled with a greater awe and love for Jesus and God’s divine plan to reconcile humanity to himself.

Big Picture Question

What did Jesus do to save us?
Jesus lived a sinless life,
died on the cross, and rose from the dead.

Key Passage/Memory Verse

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him.
John said, “Look! The Lamb of God!
He takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:29 NIrV
