What is this unit about?

Despite God’s warnings, His people continued to rebel. When God warned Israel’s enemies, they repented. In this we see God’s heart for all people and also His justice in what He would do next: discipline His people by sending them into captivity in a foreign land.

Why is this important for our kids?

No one enjoys discipline, kids included, yet here we see that rebellion against God carries consequences. Does this mean God no longer loves them? No, it is because God loves His people that He disciplines them. It is important for kids to see that God is just and fair and loving all at the same time. This is also a challenge to the way we discipline children as God’s representative - with justice, fairness and LOADS OF LOVE all the time.

Big Picture Question

What makes people SPECIAL?
People are special because we are made in God’s image,
as male and female, to know Him.

Key Passage/Memory Verse

You created the deepest parts of my being.
You put me together inside my mother’s body.
How you made me is amazing and wonderful.
I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful.
I know that very well.
Ps 139:13-14 NIrV

Sing-Along Videos for this Unit

Join along at home using these songs with actions and lyrics. We’ll be singing these songs each week as we are reminded that although we do sin by making other things more important than God, He does change little by little to love Him more.
