For the duration of Home Kids Church we will be exploring the biblical theme of ‘kingship’ with lessons on King Saul, King David and King Solomon, as well as other kings in the Old Testament. These lead into lessons about Jesus—the King of kings.

We start this series with God’s people, the Israelites, and learn that God is their king. But sadly, even though their king is the creator of the world, they want to be like the nations around them and have a human king. They are warned of the consequences but they still want a human king. Saul is their first human king—a king chosen by God - but God remains very much in charge. Children will see that God is in charge of King Saul and the Israelites. God wanted King Saul to obey him. King Saul’s reign is cut short because he disobeyed God. So we see that sin does matter and disobedience has consequences.
