Lesson Aim:
To help children understand the importance of sharing the good news of King Jesus. Increase an awareness of one missionary, missionary family or familiar country of focus. Recognise that we can all be missionaries wherever we are.
Main Message:
King Jesus wants us to tell the good news to others near and far. God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us share the gospel with others.
Lesson Options
Helping It Stick
Choose from these activities to enjoy with your kids to help repeat and consolidate the Main Message from this part of the bible.
Creative
Make Encouragement Cards: Use cardboard and any other craft supplies to make Thank You cards for missionaries. This could be something you can send to a missionary or keep as a reminder to pray for them.
Map the Good News: See the gospel partners our church supports. Print a world map and colour it. Use pins or stickers to highlight the places missionaries are spreading the good news of Jesus. Hang this on your wall or fridge as a reminder to pray and thank God for them.
Physical/Tactile
Missionary Packing List: What would you take if you were a missionary overseas? Find some things around your house! (Set the timer and go!)
Get creative in the kitchen: Find recipes to cook in the local cuisine of the missionary you’ve been focusing on during this lesson. Pray for them at the end of activity.
Letter to a missionary: Write a letter of encouragement to a missionary/missionary family. If not sure where to send it, email info@hunterbiblechurch.org for some more info.
