Be part of reaching the families of Newcastle and Lake Mac with the gospel this January.

WAVE is one epic week of mission! We pull together as one church in an effort to see kids, teens and adults in our community come to know salvation in Jesus.

It’s a jam-packed week full of fun activities for babies right up to senior high school. And parents are invited to enjoy our pop-up cafe! There are loads of ways you can be involved, and we can’t do it without your help. Why not hop in and join the fun?

Save the date for WAVE 2025

Monday 20th to Friday 24th January, 2025

I love seeing kids arrive at the beginning of the week who have never heard about Jesus, are nervous and don’t know anyone, then leave at the end of the week knowing the gospel, missing all their friends and coming back on Sunday to continue the fun! Wave is genuinely the best week, you meet people from across the whole church and old friends from years gone by, build deep relationships, have heaps of fun, and get to share Jesus every single day, what’s not to love?!

Welcoming

Be someone’s first impression of WAVE! Say hi, be a friendly face, blow bubbles, cool people off with spray bottles, help people know where to go — it’s the best!

And more…

That’s not all! Whether it’s catering, site management, SANS, photography, comms, or production — you name it, WAVE probably involves it! There are so many ways to serve Jesus! If you’re not sure how you might fit, express your interest and we’ll help you get involved.

I always look forward to helping out with logistics at WAVE each year, not only is it awesome to see God at work in our city but getting to know other HBCers from different congregations throughout the week is a huge bonus.

I’m really looking forward to serving on the WAVE Kids Section this year, it was such a spectacular experience last year that I couldn’t wait to sign up again this year. I loved meeting all the members of HBC at the lunches and dinners, making some great friends that help to keep me going then and now still! Loved seeing everyone together willing to give up their time and serve Jesus, it was so encouraging and a good reminder that at the centre of HBC & WAVE is Jesus and sharing the gospel!

FAQs

  • We’d love to encourage you to consider freeing up that week if at all possible.

Many people take the week off work, and block out that time in their calendar every January.

If you can’t free up those days, there are still many ways you can be part of WAVE without being at the program on the days. There are many different teams and roles that happen in the lead up, outside of the program hours etc.

    You can still be involved!

  • We’re committed to the safety, protection and wellbeing of children and vulnerable people in our care. That’s why all team members on site during WAVE are required to complete their Working With Children Check and Safe Ministry training.

  • We'd hate for money to be the reason you can't serve on the WAVE team this year. If you’re interested in serving but money is an issue, please let us know at wave@hunterbiblechurch.org

  • We’d love to hear them! Send your questions into wave@hunterbiblechurch.org

I loved getting to spend a week with my church family telling kids about how good Jesus is and having fun whilst doing so!

300,000. That’s roughly how many people live in Newy and Lake Mac. And our prayer is that God would give 30,000 of these people to Jesus as a start. That 1 in 10 would come to know and trust in Jesus as their saviour and their king.

That's what makes serving on the WAVE team so worth it! Because at WAVE we get the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with over 100 adults, 300 families and 600 kids + youth, in the hope that they might connect with us as a church and come to put their trust in Jesus.

But it takes around 400 people from our church family all serving alongside one another in partnership for the gospel to make this incredible week happen.

Which is where you fit in. We need your help to make WAVE happen. Whatever your skills, whatever your capacity, we've got a role for you on our team. And on top of this you'll have a blast building new friendships with people from our broader church family!

We'd love for you to come and commit to being a part of the WAVE team. In the hope that we might see 30,000 come to Jesus in Newy and Lake Mac, just for a start.
