Celebrate Easter with us at Hunter Bible Church

Discover Hope and Joy in Jesus this Easter

Have you ever wondered what the Easter long weekend is all about? Why do we pause and remember Jesus—a guy who died two thousand years ago? What’s worth celebrating about that?

And as for the resurrection—it sounds ludicrous! What good reason do we have to believe it’s true? And what significance does it have if it is true?

This Easter we’ll be examining the central claim of Christianity—the profound world-changing reality of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

We can’t wait to celebrate the hope and joy of Easter with you, your friends and family! Explore the meaning of Easter as you engage with God’s word in the Bible.

There will be baptisms(Easter Sunday), hot cross buns, chocolate eggs, good coffee, good company, and the chance to hear why Easter is a wonderful time of hope and joy!

Easter Baptisms

We love baptism! Baptism is a wonderful opportunity to express your faith in Christ and celebrate the new life he has given you through his death and resurrection. It's also a wonderful time for our church family to be reminded that Jesus changes lives.

We’ll be holding baptisms on Easter Sunday. If you're interested in being baptised, let us know and we’ll get in touch!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
— 1 Peter 1:3

  • Yes! A full kids program will run for ages 0-12 for each of our in-person services on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday (except for Unichurch).

  • It’s Newcastle! Dress like you would at the shops. Talk like you would at home. We really want you to forget about what other people think and simply engage with God’s word in the Bible.

  • There is onsite parking at Garden Suburb and the Uni, and on the street around our City venue. As you drive in you will see signs telling you you’re at the right place and where you can park.

  • As you walk into the venue, there will usually be a few friendly faces at the door who will say hello and let you know you’re in the right place!

There’s usually time to grab a free coffee or some light refreshments before the meeting starts.

  • We typically sing some carols about Jesus, read a part of the Bible, and hear a short talk on the meaning of Easter.

If you don’t have a bible, that’s completely fine! You can either just listen along, or you can follow along using an online Bible (with multiple languages, like this one!)

  • During our meetings, we take the opportunity to celebrate how God has been merciful to us by standing and singing together.

You don’t have to sing if you don’t want to. You’re very welcome to just sit or stand and listen to the words.

  • Our meetings usually go for about an hour. At the end of the meeting we’ll enjoy some hot cross buns, Easter eggs, coffee and other refreshments.

We’d love for you to stick around and meet some people. Folks will usually hang around and chat with each other for a little while after the meeting.
