We believe that God calls his people to a life of cheerful generosity. This generosity with all that we have is the right and appropriate response to the God who is—and will always be—generous towards us.
A Christian’s desire to give to church should spring from this generosity, and not from feeling pressured or forced to do so. That’s one of the reasons we never “pass a plate” around during our Sunday meetings, but we encourage and challenge each other through the scriptures to grow in our generosity.
At Hunter Bible Church we believe that those who are part of our church family will want to share the costs of staffing and facilitating our shared conviction to be a growing and grounded church for Christ. The most helpful way our members can share in covering these kingdom costs is by setting up an automatic transfer from their bank account to the Church bank account.

2025 Financial Plans
After 7-8 years of budgeted surplus, the plan for 2025 was always going to budget a loss. This main factors of this planned loss (of $284k) are the first year of paying down the Garden Suburb Development loan, and the first full year of paying for the King St lease. The 5 year prayer is that as church grows in these locations, the annual deficit will turn into a surplus, in preparation for future plans.
2025 Finances as of May
After the first 5 months of the year, our General Giving is sitting about 3% behind budget, and a range of seasonal expenses and unexpected expenses have meant we’re about 5% over budget in spending. This raises concerns that our planned loss could be $70k worse than budget, which would have difficult flow on effects in 2026 and beyond.
