Newcastle AFES Prayer Update

* Praise God for blessing Mission Week (17-21 August). The students of NCS worked hard all week proclaiming the gospel. By Thursday, almost every student on campus knew about our events. We had around 240 students at the Thursday night talk (Enjoy the Ultimate Sex: Jesus & sex), over 70 of whom were guests. The talk was challenging, and prompted lots of great gospel discussions afterwards.

* Pray for Life to the Full, a 5-week follow-up dinner series at Martin’s & Jen’s home. About 30 students are coming, almost half of whom are investigating Chrsitianity. Pray that Martin would explain the gospel in a simple way. Ask God to bless the attendees with faith, and convict them to repent.

* The international student group, FOCUS has grown rapidly this semester. Thank God that a group of German students have joined FOCUS. Some are exploring Christianity; others are Christians who keep inviting their friends! Ask God to give FOCUS staffworker Dene Hughes wisdom and faithfulness as he leads the group. Pray that they FOCUS leaders would be able to start a third evening bible study group soon to cater for this growth.

* NCS Committee just got back from a weekend away. Thank God for the relaxing time we had bonding as a team. Thank God raising up such a godly and group of student leaders. Pray for wisdom as they consider changing some NCS structures and activities for next year.

* Pray for all of NCS: that in the mid semester uni slog of assignments and exams they won’t be side tracked from chatting to their mates, and being persistent witnesses for Christ.

* Ask God to provide new staff in 2010 so that we may seize even more opportunities to preach Christ at Newcastle uni.
