So what does it mean to have ‘Life to the Full’?

by James Deaton | Posted on February 5th in Events, Mission   No Comments »

For those of you who don’t know, Life to the full will be running every Tuesday in March. It’s only a few weeks away now!

One of the great things about life to the full is clear explanation. You’ll find out who Jesus is and what he claims about life. Combine this with meeting lots of people, a chance to ask questions and a delicious dinner & desert for $5- let me tell you, its no bangers and mash! I’m looking forward to the lamb shanks and tiramisu.

In my previous jobs I found one of the frustrating thing about being a Christian at work was when colleagues asked me about Christianity. (You’re probably thinking “What is he talking about!” …hold judgment). Colleagues would ask me “Why are you a Christian? What about all the other religions? What do Christians believe?” Praise God that they were interested in finding out more!

But what was frustrating for me was the lack of time to answer and hear their response. I knew as I was explaining that the stop-watch was counting down. Someone would interrupt or the phone would ring. Remember those times when someone’s in the kitchen making coffee and they ask about your weekend? You start talking about Church and what you learnt. For me the stop watch was always counting down. No time for questions, just a short hazy summary.

Well that’s the great thing about Life to the Full - 2 hours spent listening, talking, asking questions. No phones, no interruptions, no time pressures!

Would you or your friends be up for it?

MTS Supporters Night

by Richard Sweatman | Posted on January 3rd in Events, Ministry   1 Comment »

Did you know about MTS at HBC?  You can check it out at ‘Ministry Apprentices’ under ‘who we are’.  This post is to invite you to the very first annual ‘MTS Supporters Night’ on Saturday January 23rd, 7:30-9:30 at Hamilton Baptist Church.

This is a night where you can meet our 9 trainees, find out more about what MTS is all about, ask questions and pray for our trainees.  I’m hoping lots of people will catch the vision for raising up the next generation of gospel workers.

This night is especially for non-HBC people who prayerfully or financially support our MTS trainees.  But it’s also for all HBC people.  All of us financially support these guys and girls through our general giving so we should be interested in what they’re doing and where they’re heading.

RSVP to Richard Sweatman or any MTS trainee.  I’d love to see 60-70 people there!

BOOK SALE at HBC!

by Richard Sweatman | Posted on July 21st in Events, Maturity   2 Comments »

Most people at our church have found that excellent Christian books have played a big part in their Christian growth and endurance over the years.  The staff and a number of keen readers would love for everyone to be reading well and reading regularly.    To that end, I’m hoping to establish a regular (not weekly) Christian bookstall at our congregations.  To get this started, we’re planning to sell off a lot of great books we’ve had lying in the office for too long.

So, on July 26 at AM and PM we’ll be having a 20% sale on all HBC books.  Bring some cash, have a browse and buy a book.  If you can help with the stall please let me know!

Happy reading!
