HBC Building Fund

Hunter Bible Church’s prayer has always been to reach Newcastle with Jesus’ saving gospel. And God is so generous!! He has been answering our prayer as He’s used us to call our friends and community to meet Jesus. God has grown us in faith as his children, and he’s grown our church family to the size we are today.

As I pray this prayer, and think about the thousands of lost souls in Newcastle, I expect difficulties and struggles to come. One struggle will be providing a venue where we can meet together and call our neighbours to hear the gospel.

I believe the most effective way for us to reach Newcastle is by having our own “place” that we can invite people into, our own “home” that we can share with the lost, our own “platform” from which we can preach the good news of Christ.

This Building Fund is the first step towards that vision. By God’s grace, money invested today will see generations of Novacastrian souls saved for Jesus’ glory.

Please consider joining me in praying for, and providing for this vision.

Building and Fund Details

Ideally, our Christian Education Centre would be where we’d hold our Sunday services (apart from unichurch), Sunday School, KidsClub, Youth Group, Women’s Bible Study, Training courses, NextStep, Adult classes like PTC, etc. But we haven’t found one particular property or building to buy yet.

The plan is to begin saving now for a deposit so we can buy the right property when God provides it - just like you would do for a house.

The Building Fund has been set up for that very reason.

The Hunter Bible Church Christian Education Centre Building Fund is an ATO approved Tax-Deductable fund. The goal of the fund is to receive financial gifts from HBC members, supporters and the public that will be used for the sole purpose of acquiring, renovating, constructing and maintaining facilities to house the Hunter Bible Church Christian Education Centre and its associated educational activities.

The Fund is managed by the Elders of Hunter Bible Church Association Inc. All money collected will be invested until such a time when an approriate property is able to be purchased.

Questions and Answers

Who will choose the building we’ll buy?

The Elders have appointed the Building Acquisition Team to research and recommend the best potential sites for a HBC building. These options will be communicated to church members for feedback and suggestions. After this, the Elders will take responsibility for making the final decision about what property to buy.

When will this happen?

Timing is very important in many areas of church life. The Elders will, through prayer and God’s leading, decide when it is the best time to set a giving target and attempt to buy a property.

What will be the style and location of the building?

The Building Acquisition Team will make recommendations about these aspects of the building, remembering that the purpose of a HBC building is to be as welcoming and accessible to as many non-Christians as possible.

What if HBC never buys a building?

In the unlikely event that the fund is wound-up, according to Australian tax law, the contents of the Fund will be given to another tax-deductible fund with similar objects and goals, e.g. facilitating biblical Christian education or providing for scripture teachers in schools.
